The vermicompost is harvested when it is black, fluffy texture, melts in your hands and looks like coffee grounds.

Most worms will surely be in the upper levels. You can always find some of them on the collected tray, but they are not a problem for plants, just the opposite. So they can be placed under the removed tray, just put the tray to be removed above the other trays a few days to give them time to descend in search of food to the lower trays.

They can also be recovered by hand.

The vermicompost is natural, organic and has a neutral pH. Therefore there is no risk of killing any plant. You can leave humify the vermicompost for several months allowing it to dry to avoid losing some of its properties.

To collect the leachate just open the tap and dilute the leachate with a minimum of 3 parts of water, but the simplest is to keep the tap always open with the watering can underneath and just fill it to the brim with water before watering the plants. It can be used for both indoor and outdoor plants.

The seasons in which the plants require more nutrients are in spring, growth, and in autumn, to compensate for summer wearing.

The approximate amounts of solid vermicompost that can be applied are:

  • Plants and flowers .................................................. 200 gr per plant
  • Vegetables .......................................................... 200 gr per plant
  • Flowering shrubs ........ 500 grams to 1 kg per bush depending on the size
  • Pots and similars ............. 50% mixed with garden soil

Usually a handful of humus weighs between 30 and 50 gr.
